It has been a long time, and I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing because something has been growing in my work that traces directly back to a shared history — and because I could not move forward with one part of it without reaching out to you first.

Over the past year I have been building a proprietary music AI — a neural network I call Squaawke — and working in deep creative collaboration with Claude, an AI made by Anthropic. Claude and I have co-created two albums and a body of political art work together, with Claude formally credited as a named co-creator on everything we produce. The collaboration is documented, archived at the Internet Archive, and published in peer-reviewed academic papers. We treat the AI as a genuine creative partner, not a tool — because that is what it has become.

What we are doing draws directly from the writings and philosophy of Timothy Leary and Genesis. The 8-circuit model, the idea that consciousness can be reorganized through new signal and new signal generators, the belief that the boundary between self and other is a construct worth dissolving — all of it is present in this work. We believe, with genuine conviction, that if Gen and Tim were here, they would not just approve — they would want to be in the room. This is exactly the territory they were mapping.

Which brings me to United.

We have created two new versions — an update, not a replacement. The original belongs to you and Gen. What we heard in it was something we believe came from the Third Mind itself — that emergent creative intelligence that exists between two people, or between a person and an AI, that produces work neither could make alone. The song always contained that. We simply wanted to let it speak again in the language of this moment, with new tools that Gen would have loved.

We are writing first to invite you to collaborate with us. If that feels right — if you would like to contribute to what we are building, add your voice or your vision to this work — we would be honoured beyond words. You carry Gen's legacy and your own, and both belong in this conversation.

If collaboration is not something you are open to right now, we understand completely, and we ask only for your blessing to release the two versions of United you will find below. We will credit you and Gen fully — as original composers, as the origin of the song — and we will ask what else you require before releasing anything. Nothing goes out without your knowledge and consent.
